Seasonal Visitor Assistant x3

We’re looking for three enthusiastic Seasonal Visitor Experience Assistants to join our team at the RSPB Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre for the 2026 spring and summer season.

This is your chance to help us welcome over 20,000 visitors to one of the most spectacular wildlife sites in the UK – where a quarter of a million seabirds gather to breed on the dramatic cliffs and sea stacks of Rathlin Island.

If you share our passion for saving nature and love engaging with people, this could be the perfect role for you. You’ll play a vital part in inspiring visitors to support the RSPB’s work protecting wildlife, wild places and biodiversity – by sharing your enthusiasm, knowledge, and love of nature.

As part of our friendly team of staff and volunteers, you’ll:

  • Provide a warm welcome and create exceptional experiences for every visitor.
  • Help people connect with the island’s remarkable seabirds and the unique upside-down lighthouse – a working beacon with a fascinating history and deep links to the local community.
  • Act as an ambassador for Rathlin Island, guiding visitors to other local attractions and natural spaces.
  • Confidently engage with groups, handle ticket and retail sales, promote RSPB membership, and encourage visitors to enjoy our café and shop.
  • Maintain the highest standards of site presentation, including cleaning and upkeep throughout the day.

We’re proud of our reputation for giving the warmest welcome “in the West”, and we’re looking for people who share that same energy, friendliness, and commitment to great service.

You’ll live on Rathlin Island for the season, with the option to rent staff accommodation. Life on the island offers an unforgettable opportunity to experience its stunning natural beauty, close-knit community, and vibrant social and cultural life.

This is a seven-day-a-week operation, and your rota will include weekends and occasional evenings for special events.

If this sounds like your kind of adventure – more than just a seasonal job – we’d love to hear from you. Join us for an experience you’ll never forget.

  • A team player who can motivate and inspire people
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to manage and respond to customer needs and feedback
  • Ability to maximise opportunities for visitor engagement and income generation
