January Start dateAcademic Appointments Ltd are supporting a Secondary school in Sheffield to recruit an experienced Teaching Assistant to provide SEN support throughout all KS3 and KS4 classes.Main duties:

  • Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with SEN, promoting their engagement and progress in class activities.
  • Monitor the pupils’ response to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities as agreed with the class teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
  • Assist in the recording of lessons and assessment as required by the class teacher.

Requirements:

  • A recognised Teaching Assistant qualification –CACHE Level 2 /NVQ Certificate in Support Teaching and Learning or equivalent would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Experience of supporting pupils identified with having SEND and/or children working at below age expected level
  • Have the ability to effectively manage behaviour using positive strategies
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
