Workers’ Advisers (lawyers and non-lawyers) travel around the Province to meet with clients and represent them at hearings and in other matters. The Program provides legal representation at all levels of decision-making in the workers’ compensation system, including at Court if necessary.About Our OpportunityAs the Secretary, you provide administrative and legal secretarial support to Workers’ Advisers (lawyers and non-lawyers).The Secretary maintains an ongoing relationship with the Workers’ Compensation Board, the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Tribunal, Labour Standards Tribunal, MLA’s and the Office of the Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration. The Secretary assumes responsibility for routine enquiries in the Workers’ Advisers absence and drafting and forwarding of routine correspondence, setting schedules, preparing straight forward documents, and making contact with the clients, Board, Tribunal and Courts.As the Secretary II, you will report to the Manager.Primary Accountabilities

  • Transcribe and format legal documents and letters from dictation and/or handwritten notes. (This includes various appeal documents, court documents, reports, memorandum, etc.)
  • Identify and manage your priorities and gather supporting information for response.
  • Scan documentation
  • File
  • Screen incoming calls
  • Maintain the current case management system
  • Schedule appointments
  • Photocopy and provide regular relief duties.
  • Routinely consult various databases to verify and update client information and input data.

Qualifications and ExperienceApplicants must demonstrate in their applications that they meet the following qualifications to be retained for further consideration:

  • Must have Grade 11 and successfully completed a commercial course with a minimum of 3 years experience working in a legal environment, or an equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
