Background:

OSCE field operations are the front line of the OSCE’s engagement on the ground, supporting host authorities in fulfilling OSCE commitments and implementing a comprehensive approach to security. The OSCE Mission to Skopje is the Organization’s longest-serving field operation working on inter-ethnic relations, early warning, the rule of law, democratic governance, transnational threats and police reform.

For the purpose of updating its temporary assistance Roster, the Mission seeks qualified candidates for the post of Security Guard (G2 level), for potential engagement on occasional and ad-hoc basis.

Applicants’ successful placement on the temporary assistance Roster is subject to their meeting the minimum qualification and skill level for the position and does not express or imply any guarantee of employment with the OSCE Mission to Skopje.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Under the overall supervision of the Mission Security Officer and operational supervision of the Security Assistant, the Security Guard is responsible for the following duties at the OSCE Mission to Skopje premises:

  1. Monitoring the movement in and around the work premises, staying alert to any emergency or hostile activity and reporting any incident to the supervisor; 
  2. Patrolling the OSCE Mission to Skopje premises and parking areas; controlling access into the premises and providing early warning to a threat;
  3. Receiving and registering external visitors according to the established procedures, being the first point of contact with the Mission;
  4. Acting as fire warden during emergency evacuation;
  5. Performing security check of incoming mail and packages;
  6. Performing office checks after working hours;
  7. Assuming certain Situation Centre Operator duties for a limited duration of time, when required;
  8. Performing occasional protocol coverage to Mission events and security assessment of the situation;
  9. Performing other duties as assigned. 

Necessary Qualifications:

  • Citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of North Macedonia;
  • Completed secondary education;
  • Minimum one year experience working in security-related jobs in a large organization, clean police/military record;
  • Computer literate with practical experience with Windows packages;
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and in local languages;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Holding a valid driving license.

 

Remuneration Package:

Remuneration will be in line with the level of the position and in accordance with OSCE Mission to Skopje local staff salary scale.

The mandatory retirement age at the OSCE is 65 years for contracted positions at the general service, professional and director level. The Organization shall apply an age limit of 63 years at the time of appointment.
