About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Army Forces Command, 3rd Infantry Div Senior Cdr Aug, G-2 Security, Fort Stewart, GA 31314.

Duties

  • Serves as a Personnel Security Specialist for a Corps, Division, or Combat Center Senior Commander.
  • Provides security guidance, direct support, technical and administrative assistance in all matters relating to PERSEC such as security clearance applications, interim clearance, periodic reinvestigations, etc.
  • Serves as the account manager on the Defense Information System for Security (DISS); manages portal account access and account hierarchies for DISS.
  • Controls measures and safeguards classified material/information in compliance with regulatory standards for the protection of classified information.
  • Supports Security Education Training Awareness (SETA) program, including the areas of physical, personnel, information, industrial and general security.
  • Provides support for one or more security programs (e.g. Information Security (INFOSEC), Industrial Security (INDUSEC), Foreign Disclosure (FD) or their associated training requirements) defined by the AR 380-series regulations.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) security clearance based on a T5 Investigation/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
  • In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, individual must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • May require Temporary Duty (TDY) travel up to 15% of the time.
  • This position requires obtaining the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within first two years of employment.
  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience and/or education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience: Experience in 1) Reviewing requests for personnel security clearances for accuracy/completeness; 2) Executing and validating security clearances. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GG/GS-09).

Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series.

Education

To substitute education for the required experience for the GG-11 grade level, applicant must have a closely related (CR) Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
