Self-Employed Project Lead – Global Majority Engagement and Network Development (Glasgow)

Are you passionate about climate action and giving a voice to communities whose voices are least often heard? Do you come from a Global Majority background and have experience leading projects, delivering workshops, and engaging diverse communities? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are seeking a confident and proactive Project Lead to drive climate engagement initiatives with Global Majority communities who have experienced migration in Glasgow. You will serve as a bridge between community organisations, local authorities, and volunteers, ensuring inclusive and meaningful climate action.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the programme in partnership with 12 charities, Network with Global Majority organisations across Glasgow to create a steering group of organisations that are bought into the programme and will help steer it.
  • Design and deliver workshops from scratch, exploring what a Climate Charter could achieve and ensuring accessibility for all participants.
  • Build and maintain strong networks across Glasgow, including charities, community groups, and public representatives.
  • Recruit, train, and support volunteers from refugee, asylum-seeking, and Global Majority communities to assist with workshops, translation, and facilitation.
  • Facilitate steering group meetings and use feedback to shape project delivery.
  • Represent the organisation at public events, community forums, and stakeholder meetings.
  • Support the upskilling of volunteers and refugee/asylum-seeking women in Glasgow through participation and climate engagement.
  • Approach challenges with a learning mindset, reflecting on outcomes, sharing lessons, and continually improving practice.
  • You will also be responsible for developing and supporting Global Majority communities to volunteer within the organisation

What We’re Looking For

  • We are looking for a confident, proactive and experienced Project Lead to drive climate engagement initiatives with Global Majority communities with lived experience of migration in Glasgow (essential)
  • Proven experience in project management, community engagement, and delivering workshops.
  • Experience bringing organisations together and building collaborative networks.
  • Experience recruiting, training, and supporting volunteers.
  • Strong leadership, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for climate action, social inclusion, and community empowerment.
  • Commitment to integrity, kindness, learning, and ethical practice.

Desirable

  • Experience working with migrant, refugee, or asylum-seeking communities.
  • Knowledge of climate change, climate justice, or sustainability initiatives.
  • Experience engaging with local authorities or public sector stakeholders.
  • Additional languages spoken by Global Majority communities.
  • Experience supporting volunteer upskilling and delivering volunteer training.
  • Understanding of grassroots community engagement.

Contract Details

  • Self-employed, 2.5 days per week for 42 weeks
  • 12 May 2026 – 31 March 2027
  • Total payment of £21,000
