Position Overview

The Undergraduate International Studies Program (UISP) at The Ohio State University invites applications for one (1) part-time lecturer position, to teach one 3-credit course, in person, in Spring semester 2026 . The course is INTSTDS 4195, Selected Problems: Intelligence in Action – Applying Intelligence Analysis & Critical Thinking Throuhg Real-World Scenarios. This undergraduate course is a new elective course that supports all International Studies major specializations and minors. Students are likely to be International Studies majors or minors or majors in other Arts & Sciences departments with interests in intelligence and national security.

We seek an instructor who can examine the tenets of intelligence analysis through the lens of significant historical case studies. They will show students how to use real-world examples to apply the core principles of intelligence tradecraft and critical thinking. The course should also prepare students to systematically, objectively and rigorously assess various intelligence problems and issues, and to develop and effectively communicate appropriate recommendations to responsible decision makers. Finally, the instructor should facilitate students’ understanding of government and non-government career opportunities in the field of national security.

The instructor is expected to teach fully in-person and be available either in-person or online for weekly office hours.

Education and Experience Requirements

      • Master’s degree in a field related to national security, public policy, or international relations, or equivalent experience
      • Professional experience with the study or practice of intelligence gathering at the national level
      • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level
      • A demonstrated commitment to Ohio State’s shared values

Desired: The ideal candidate will be familiar with the International Studies program, have professional work experience in a security-related field, and have demonstrated aptitude and effectiveness in undergraduate-level instruction.
