Job Title: SEMH Teaching AssistantLocation: WorthingSalary: Minimum £84 per dayContract: Monday 8:45-4:15 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 8:45-3:45 – Temp to perm (Term Time Only)About Us: We are dedicated to providing high-quality education and support to primary and secondary-aged students with SEMH needs. These needs include children diagnosed with ASC, ADHD or who have high anxiety and attachment and trauma barriers to learning.Join our team as an SEMH Teaching Assistant and play a vital role in helping students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential!Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage in learning and develop coping strategies.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons that meet the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges.
  • Support students in managing their emotions and behaviours, promoting positive social interactions and self-regulation skills.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other staff members to develop and implement individualised support plans for students with SEMH needs.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, building trust and rapport to facilitate their academic and personal growth.
  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the review and evaluation of support strategies.
  • Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, intervening in crisis situations and de-escalating challenging behaviours as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working with primary and secondary students with SEMH needs, preferably in an educational setting(desirable)
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and mental health development of young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a calm and compassionate approach to supporting students in crisis situations.
