Contract Type: Temporary to PermanentJob DescriptionWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Primary SEMH Teacher to join our supportive team. This role is ideal for an educator with a strong commitment to making a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The position starts on a temporary basis, with the potential to transition into a permanent contract for the right candidate.Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging lessons: Tailored to the individual needs of pupils with SEMH challenges, ensuring a focus on academic, social, and emotional growth.
• Create a safe learning environment: Establish a nurturing classroom atmosphere that promotes resilience, positive behaviour, and self-confidence.
• Individualised support: Implement and adapt lesson plans to meet pupils’ EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans).
• Behaviour management: Use restorative and therapeutic approaches to manage challenging behaviour effectively.
• Collaborative working: Liaise with teaching assistants, SENCOs, parents/carers, and external professionals to ensure cohesive support.
• Assessment and monitoring: Regularly assess pupils’ progress, celebrating achievements and identifying areas for development.
• Professional development: Stay informed about best practices for supporting SEMH students and engage in training opportunities.

Essential Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential for this role.
• Experience working with SEMH pupils: In a primary school or specialist setting.
• Strong communication skills: With the ability to build trusting relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues.
• Empathy and resilience: A positive, adaptable attitude to working in a challenging but rewarding environment.
• Knowledge of therapeutic strategies: Such as de-escalation techniques, trauma-informed practices, or similar approaches.

Desirable Attributes

• Experience in a specialist school or alternative provision.
• Additional training in SEMH, restorative practices, or behaviour management.
• Familiarity with EHCP processes and implementation.
