If so, GSL Education are opening opportunities for highly qualified SEMH Teachers to join a specialist school in Dinnington, where your skills and commitment will be truly valued.About The Role:As an SEMH Teacher, you will provide tailored and engaging lessons to students who require a more individualised and structured approach to learning. You will be instrumental in creating a nurturing and inclusive environment, enabling students to develop both academically and emotionally. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you will implement effective strategies to support behaviour management, emotional regulation and personalised learning plans.Responsibilities of SEMH Teacher:
- Plan and deliver differentiated lessons that support both academic progress and emotional development.
- Foster a positive and structured learning environment, ensuring students feel safe and valued.
- Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies to support student engagement.
- Work collaboratively with SENCOs, teaching assistants, therapists and external agencies to provide holistic support.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students with complex SEMH, ASD, ADHD and associated needs.
- Provide constructive feedback and reports to monitor progress and support continuous development.
- Actively promote self-confidence, independence and emotional resilience among students.
The successful candidate will:
- Must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent with a focus on SEMH or SEN.
- Have hands-on experience working with students who exhibit Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties.
- Strong knowledge of understanding of the challenges students with SEMH face.
- The ability to differentiate lessons and employ a range of teaching techniques to support students with varying needs.
- Have in-depth knowledge of trauma-informed practices, positive behaviour reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
- Have familiarity with additional special educational needs such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and other complex conditions
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with other professionals to support SEMH students.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
