SEMH Teaching Assistant – Stockport
Pay: £419.25 – £500 per week
Contract: Full-time | Immediate Start | Until end of academic year (potential to become permanent)
Agency: Teaching PersonnelTeaching Personnel is working with an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Stockport to recruit an SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs. This full-time role starts ASAP and runs through to the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent contract depending on performance.This position is ideal for individuals with a background or interest in mental health, behaviour support, youth work, or psychology. You’ll play a key role in helping students develop emotional resilience, re-engage with learning, and build positive relationships in a structured and nurturing school environment.Key Responsibilities:Provide 1:1 or small group support for students with SEMH needsBuild positive and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and emotional developmentSupport pupils in lessons by promoting focus, managing behaviour, and reinforcing positive routinesCollaborate with the pastoral and SEN team to support behaviour intervention strategies and individual support plansPromote a safe, respectful and inclusive school environmentLiaise with teachers, parents and external professionals where necessaryKey Information:Location: Stockport (secondary school)Full-time hours: Monday to Friday during term timeWeekly pay: £419.25 – £500 via Teaching PersonnelStart date: ASAPContract: Until July 2025, with opportunity for permanent positionIdeal Candidate:Experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional learning needs (formal or informal)A calm, patient and consistent approachStrong communication and teamwork skillsA background in education, psychology, youth work, or social care is highly desirab
