Situated in the heart of Bath, we cater to secondary-aged students who require additional support due to social, emotional, and mental health needs, ensuring they receive the tailored assistance and guidance necessary to thrive academically and emotionally.Position Overview: As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in delivering targeted support to secondary-aged students, promoting their emotional resilience, and fostering positive mental health and well-being. Working collaboratively with our dedicated team of educators and specialists, you will provide individualized interventions, facilitate group activities, and offer pastoral care to ensure every student receives the support they need to succeed.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support and mentoring to students, addressing their social, emotional, and mental health concerns in a compassionate and non-judgmental manner.
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and external agencies to develop and implement personalized support plans tailored to each student’s specific needs and circumstances.
  • Deliver structured interventions and therapeutic activities aimed at enhancing students’ emotional regulation, self-esteem, and interpersonal skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate students’ progress, maintaining detailed records and reports to track outcomes and inform future support strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advocate and ally for students, advocating for their needs and rights, and facilitating communication between home and school as required.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive school culture through the delivery of assemblies, workshops, and awareness-raising initiatives focused on mental health and well-being.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working with adolescents in a mental health, educational, or youth work setting, particularly those with SEMH needs, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and understanding of the impact of social, emotional, and mental health difficulties on learning and behavior.
