Job Title: SEN Teacher
Location: Specialist School, Peckham
Position: Full-time, Permanent, Starting JanuaryAbout the RoleWe are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Teacher to join our exceptional team at a specialist school in Peckham. This fulfilling role offers the opportunity to teach small groups of students with a variety of special educational needs (SEN), such as autism, speech and language difficulties, and moderate learning disabilities. • Design and deliver creative and engaging lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of students with SEN.
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with the SENCo, therapists, and families to support student progress.
• Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment that encourages both academic and personal growth.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to support diverse learning styles and abilities.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods to ensure maximum achievement and success.
• Work closely with teaching assistants and other support staff to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
• Maintain strong relationships with parents and carers, offering regular updates and fostering open communication to support student progress.
• Participate in school-wide initiatives, training sessions, and professional development to stay up-to-date on SEN best practices.
• Contribute to the school’s culture of inclusion, positivity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Proven experience in teaching students with SEN, ideally within a specialist or inclusive educational setting.
• Strong understanding of SEN strategies, behavior management, and inclusive teaching practices.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Creativity, empathy, and patience to engage and support students with diverse needs.
• A commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for working with SEN students.
• Enhanced DBS check and the legal right to work in the UK.
