This position is vital in providing focused assistance to students aged 4-18 years old with special education needs, enabling them to thrive both academically and socially. Your role will significantly enhance the learning experience for these students, ensuring they feel included and valued in their educational journey.About the Role:As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the educational experience of our students. This position involves working closely with teachers to support students with special education needs. You will be responsible for providing targeted assistance, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere and contributing to the overall academic progress of our students.SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with teachers and SENCOs to develop and implement tailored support strategies for students with special education needs.
  • Adapt educational resources and classroom activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Provide direct, one-on-one and group support during lessons, helping with various tasks and activities.
  • Assist with the implementation of behaviour management techniques suited to individual students.
  • Foster the development of students’ social skills and confidence through targeted interventions.
  • Build strong, supportive relationships with students to encourage their engagement and motivation.
  • Work with parents and external professionals to ensure a holistic support system is in place for each student.

SEN Teaching Assistant Job Requirements:

  • CACHE Level 2 or 3 or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Teaching Assistance or Childcare is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, or a similar support role in a classroom or school setting, is preferred.
  • Need to be proactive and resilient, adaptable and have a genuine commitment to supporting students’ growth.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Have a good personality.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
