Posted On: Apr 11, 2024Senior Advisor, IFRS & External ReportingOur client is seeking a Senior Advisor, IFRS & External Reporting to join their team in Calgary. This role will provide support and oversight for assessments relating to embedded derivatives and financial instruments and related valuations and provide oversight of IFRS 15 Revenues and IFRS 16 Leases. A successful candidate will be accountable for advising on select complex accounting issues arising from business transactions, new transactions, new accounting pronouncements, and maintaining quality and compliance across financial statements entities.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Identify and research complex technical accounting issues, including those that may arise from new accounting standards.
• Work closely with finance teams, auditors, legal advisors, and other stakeholders to gather financial data and ensure accurate reporting.
• Prepare and provide IFRS training to the finance teams and accounting and settlements teams as required.
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes and enhance efficiency while maintaining compliance.
• Review quantitative consistency of historical information for comparatives, across the documents, ensuring mathematical and cross-referential accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and implement an annual business plan for complex accounting, and accounting policies.
• Prepare and review financial statements.
• Complete special projects as required.

Your strengths include:

• Bachelor’s degree and CPA
• 12+ years of experience in External Reporting and complex accounting
• Strong knowledge of IFRS principles and their application in financial reporting.
• Knowledge of Power and Utilities and the application of IFRS Experience with financial instruments.
• Experience in public accounting (audit and/or consultancy)
