The Senior Associate is a key position supporting the firm’s large and dynamic China practice. This position will interact directly with clients and support client engagements, developing research products and written deliverables.  This position requires a strong China background, high-level of Chinese language proficiency, exceptional analytical writing skills, creativity, and an ability to work well within a team.

This position provides the opportunity to support clients on complex commercial and geopolitical issues related to China in a fast-paced, collegial environment. Responsibilities for the position are listed below:

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate as part of ASG client-facing teams with a focus on China and U.S.-China geopolitical and economic issues.
  • Conduct primary source research using Chinese and analysis using English on China’s political and economic developments as well as broader developments in U.S.-China relations and China’s interaction with other commercial and political stakeholders on the global stage.
  • Deliver first drafts of country reports, briefing memos, client presentations, and stakeholder maps.
  • Play a significant role in the team’s knowledge management on China-related issues, including helping to identify and archive resources.
  • Focus on cultivating and enhancing China-related geopolitical, regional, functional, or sector/industry expertise (e.g., China, and/or healthcare, finance, energy) applicable to client projects. Model excellence in the production of ASG deliverables.
  • Assist with the coordination of business development opportunities with other DGA  regional/functional practices to build new business for the firm.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three to seven years of relevant prior work experience.
  • BA/BS in political science, international relations, public policy or business administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience, with a master’s degree in related field a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of China (via prior living experience, or academic or professional experience analyzing business, political, or economic issues and trade context) and understanding of  U.S.-China relations and economic policy issues.
  • Highly proficient in PowerPoint and other MS Office tools.
  • High degree of working-level proficiency in Chinese language required.
