Help us deliver positive ecological outcomes from development and support Oxfordshire’s
ambitions for nature recovery
About us
Oxfordshire is a county with a complex landscape supporting an interesting variety of habitats
influenced by diverse geology and river systems. Oxfordshire County Council have acknowledged
the county is facing a climate and ecological emergency; our partners and communities are also
passionate about nature recovery, but our natural environment faces many challenges.
That’s why we’re looking to expand our Landscape and Nature Recovery Team, developing a
supportive environment in which staff can successfully apply, and increase, their knowledge and
experience to help nature’s recovery.
About the role
You’ll champion the County Council’s biodiversity interests and become recognised as an
authority on these matters at county level, playing a key role in delivery of positive
ecological outcomes through the planning process for minerals, waste and infrastructure
applications.
There will be opportunities to be involved in a wide variety of nature recovery work as we
develop the Council’s biodiversity policies, implement biodiversity net gain, support our other
service areas and work with partners on a Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
About you
You’ll have applied knowledge of UK species and habitats and experience of providing ecological
input into the planning process, with a thorough knowledge of how to apply relevant
legislation, policies and strategies.
You’ll also be a strong communicator, with good negotiating and problem solving skills.
