Come join our creative team of engineers and begin your entrepreneurial journey.The Senior Bridge Engineer’s mission is to work within a multi-discipline team to deliver successful bridge projects with innovative solutions. You will provide mentorship to Junior/Intermediate Engineers and Designers while overseeing various stages of planning and design activities. You will also act as Project Manager and Lead Bridge Engineer and will collaboratively work within the multidisciplinary teams in achieving the unique objectives of each project.Our hybrid work model can accommodate flexible work hours, and the position can be based out of our Mississauga, Burlington, Bowmanville, and London office locations.Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and analysis of bridge structures, including conceptual and detailed design phases.
- Structural evaluation of roadway and pedestrian bridges, culverts, retaining wall and other transportation structures
- Develop and review preliminary and detailed design of new bridges, culverts, retaining walls and, life-cycle cost analysis and rehabilitation design of existing bridges
- Review and assist in the preparation drawings and contract specifications, schedules, and probable construction cost estimates.
- Conduct construction administration duties, if required and assist in construction liaison during construction
- Organize and assist/carry-out field inspections of existing bridges, culverts, retaining walls and prepare inspection reports per OSIM requirements
- Review and write bridge evaluation and structural design reports, and technical studies
- Lead as Project Manager/collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, Specialists and Professionals as part of the multi-discipline Project Team
- Collaborate with the client, approval agencies and other external stakeholders
- Assist in the development of bridge designer staff and effectively delegate work to the designers
- Prepare and assist in development of proposals including business development and team development
- Profile
- Undergraduate degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from an accredited University, Masters (or PhD) degree will be considered an asset
- Licenced Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario (eligible for Membership with the PEO)
- 10 years of relevant experience in design of bridges with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design CHBDC
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC CSA S6), MTO manuals, Ontario Provincial Standards Specifications – OPSS, MTO guidelines, policies, and standards.
- Demonstrated strong technical background in the planning, preliminary and detailed design of bridges, culverts, and other transportation structures
- Knowledge of structural software, such as CSiBridge, SAP2000, MIDAS etc.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Project
- Condition survey and inspection and construction experience would be considered an asset
- Highly organized and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A vehicle in suitable working order and a valid driver’s licence
