The Role:

 

The purpose of the Senior Business Development Coordinator (BDC) is to pre-position Oxfam towards emerging funding & partnership opportunities that are in line with our mandate and aspirations.

 

The BDC will play an important part in advancing OGB’s overall strategic position within their country portfolio in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) by supporting the growth of programmes, strategic partnerships, and influence with partners and donors alike; and leading the operationalisation of business development elements of country funding plans, into donor specific funding proposals.

 

The role will contribute towards:

 

  • Increasing OGB’s institutional income in the MENA region.
  • Building stronger funding relationships and providing additional capacity to the OGB strategic partner countries.
  • Building a new partnership with Oxfam International regional platform at MENA to advance One Oxfam goals.

 

What we are looking for:

An ideal candidate for the role will also have:

 

  • Drive to achieve results.
  • Organisational Awareness.
  • Minimum 5 years country based experience in a funding or development programme related role.
  • Knowledge and experience acquired in MENA region.
  • Experience of developing large consortium based proposals, from initial idea phase up to submission.
  • Understanding of Institutional Donors such as World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Islamic Development Bank, Non-traditional donors.
  • Proven Track record in leading successful bids/proposals.
  • Experience of working in temporary teams within a large complex organisation in the development sector.
  • Excellent written English communications skills, suitable for a wide range of audiences.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and experience of developing working relationships with people around the world.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritise, respond quickly and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Organisational awareness and knowledge of Oxfam’s programme work.
  • Proactive approach, ability to influence others and use initiative to achieve goals.
  • Flexible team player.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
  • Critical information gathering, knowledge management and research skills.

We think this role would work particularly well as a partially home-based assignment. 2 days per week is common in the current team.
