This post is not approved for training. If applying from outside the Deanery, approval for Out of Programme Training must be obtained, and candidates should discuss their application with their Training Programme DirectorMain duties of the jobThe Gynaecological Cancer Centre of Royal London Hospital serves the former North East London Cancer Network (NELCN) which includes a population of approximately 1.7 million people. Non-surgical oncological services include chemotherapy, radiotherapy and palliative care. In selected women adjuvant treatment with chemotherapy and radiotherapy is administered at our Joint Cancer Centre at The Queen’s Hospital.The Department of Gynaecological Oncology at the Gynaecological Cancer Centre of the Royal London Hospital is the sole site for the surgical management of women in the network with gynaecological malignancies, apart from women with low to intermediate risk endometrial cancer and adnexal masses whom are treated at our referring Gynaecological Cancer Units.At Royal London there are 6 consultant gynaecological oncological surgeons. There are comprehensive clinical nurse specialists, palliative care and pain service provision at the Royal London. There is a dedicated gynaecological ward with 20 dedicated Gynaecological Oncology and benign Gynaecology beds.The department has a dedicated multidisciplinary Precision Prevention service for managing women at increased risk of gynaecological cancers. The clinic is based at the Barts Hospital site. • Full GMC registration
• MB BS or equivalent
• MRCOG or European CCST

Desirable criteria

• MD, PhD or FRCS

Knowledge/Clinical Expertise in Gynaecological OncologyEssential criteria

• The candidate should have been accredited/have CCT, or have completed at least five years of ST training with a satisfactory ARCP outcome, (candidates must bring their own NTN with them in this case) in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, or equivalent
• Basic gynaecological oncology training

Desirable criteria

• Evidence of additional clinical experience in or relevant to Gynaecological Oncology

Training Expected Management/Audit ExperienceEssential criteria

• As in MRCOG training Good organisational and management skills
• Ability to act within the clinical Governance framework of the NHS
• Computing and IT skills

Desirable criteria

• Competent in simple MIS hysterectomy and simple open hysterectomy
• BSCCP accreditation (or equivalent)

Academic Achievements Research PublicationsEssential criteria

• Research experience; for example peer review publication or presentation at national or international meetings (eg BGCS )

Desirable criteria

• MD/PhD
• GCP accreditation

• Good leadership skills
• Ability to communicate with clarity and intelligently in written and spoken English; ability to build rapport, listen, persuade/ negotiate with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agencies.
