Full GMC registration with a license to practice and evidence of financial sponsorship to cover the candidate’s salary and training costs are requiredFor further details / informal visits, contact:Dr Hazem LashinHazem.lashin@nhs.netPlease be advised that the vacancy advertisement may close early if a sufficient number of applications are received therefore, we recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointmentMain duties of the jobPost – Senior Clinical Fellow in Critical Care Medicine (1 year extendable with mutual agreement).The position is available to doctors who have financial sponsorship covering their salary and training costs, and who have reached at least an intermediate level (completed ST4) in Intensive Care Medicine or received equivalent training.The fellowship aims to train individuals in advanced cardiothoracic critical care medicine to improve patient care.The fellow will have the opportunity to gain clinical experience, clinical leadership, and education skills.They will be exposed to the range of cardiovascular pathologies encountered in the Barts Heart Centre.The fellow will be encouraged to attend the educational programme, including a weekly core knowledge course and radiology and echocardiography review meetings where feasible.They will be encouraged to participate in relevant national conferences during the fellowship. Joining forces with other partners in an Academic Health Science System will improve staff’s ability to secure funds and pool their talents to develop new technology, techniques, and treatments.The Department of Perioperative Medicine (Intensive Care Medicine and Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia and Critical Care), led by Dr Simon Finney and Dr Martin Lees, the Cardiothoracic Surgical Department (led by Mr Kulvinder Lall), the interventional cardiology department (led by Prof Anthony Mathur) and the electrophysiology department (led by Prof Ross Hunter) form part of the Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group, led by Professor Charles Knight, CAG Director. Qualifications and training
Essential

• GMC Registration
• FRCA/MRCEM/MRCP/FRCS or equivalent
• Minimum ST 4 ICM (or equivalent)
• Evidence of financial sponsorship

Desirable

• Experience in cardiothoracic critical care
• APLS/EPLS
• FICE/FUSIC
• ALS or equivalent
• ATLS or equivalent

Research and Development
Essential

• Understanding and knowledge of research and ability to interpret research papers.
• Good Clinical Practice training

• Publications in critical care journals or in areas of special interest.

Teaching and training

• Experience in teaching

• Experience in delivering training courses to junior medical and nursing staff
