Senior Clinical Lecturer in Respiratory Medicine

The University of Southampton (UoS), in partnership with University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS), is looking to recruit an outstanding academic respiratory physician to join the current respiratory medicine team of consultants and researchers, building on the excellence in translational respiratory medicine research.The successful candidate will work 50% as a clinical academic for the UoS and 50% of the time in the NHS, the post will be hosted by the University. Part of the University role will be to backfill the clinical service of the Director of the Institute for Medical Innovation while the Institute is established, resulting in an overall 50:50 divide.The University of Southampton, Faculty of MedicineThe UoS is a leading research-intensive University, a member of the Russell Group and one of the top 100 universities worldwide. We provide a high quality care in Respiratory Medicine including a number of specialist tertiary level services, including cystic fibrosis, tuberculosis, asthma and pulmonary fibrosis.What we are looking forThose trained in the UK must have evidence of Higher Speciality Training leading to a Certificate of Completion of Training in Respiratory and General Medicine or be within four months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.Applicants must haveJoint accreditation in General and Respiratory MedicineA PhD and evidence of excellence in research, supported by strong publications, teaching experience and a track record in generating external grant income, including a competitive national fellowship. The research interests of the applicant should complement those of the current respiratory team and an interest in emerging diagnostic methodologies, such as proteomics and their application in the field of tuberculosis, is highly desirable.Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.The Faculty of Medicine holds an Athena SWAN Silver Award demonstrating commitment to equal opportunities and gender balance in the workplace.
