Applications are invited for the above post commencing 5-February 2025 until 5-August 2025The Orthopaedic and Trauma Department is based in the two Major Teaching Hospitals in the City of Cardiff, the Capital of Wales.The post is attached to the Cardiff Lower Limb Arthroplasty Unit, at both the University Hospital of Wales and University Hospital Llandough and serves a local population of 500,000 and provides a tertiary referral service for a population of 1.5 million. The successful candidate will be exposed to all aspects of knee surgery. There is a fully established Research Unit. The successful candidate will be expected to take part in ongoing research projects together with specific research.Candidates should have ideally completed a basic Orthopaedic Registrar training programme and passed the appropriate exit examination.Main duties of the jobThe Post Holder will be expected to work at specialist Registrar level and will participate in the specialist Registrar on call rota at Llandough Hospital.Clinics, review/research clinicsLists, own and supervised.Assigned 1 or 2 projects.Access to university facilitiesOriginal research encouraged.Duties will include retrospective review, liaising with university departments and screening and scoring patients.About usCardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 15,000 staff, providing over 100 specialist services.
