Senior Communications Manager: Q-BIOMED, The UK Quantum Biomedical Sensing Research Hub
University College London
About usOur hub is one of five national quantum research hubs supported by £160 million in funding from the £2.5 billion National Quantum Technologies Programme. Q-BIOMED aims to deliver a step change in earlier disease diagnosis and treatment for diseases including cancer and Alzheimer’s disease (https://www.qbiomed.org.uk). We aim to develop ultra-sensitive blood tests, faster MRI scan times, and improved healthcare access through lower costs and portable instruments. In addition, quantum technologies will enable new interventional tools for surgery and treatment, and new tools for basic life sciences research, to study disease at single cell and single molecule scales. These advances could enable much earlier diagnosis of disease such as cancer allowing for more rapid medical interventions and potentially saving lives.
