Senior Corporate Counsel-Corporate Law (1 Year Contract)Are you a legal professional passionate about leveraging your expertise to drive business success? If yes, the senior corporate counsel role is just the role for you!As a senior corporate counsel, you will be responsible for strategically managing risks to enhance Best Buy’s competitive advantage. This includes mitigating financial and reputational legal risks, navigating legal challenges and developing policies that balance business needs with those of stakeholders. Your efforts must align with company values and the broader enterprise environment.We practice a remote first working model, leveraging in person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.Join us and grow your career as a senior corporate counsel!What you’ll do:

• Review existing a proposed advertisements, promotions, contests, and other public-facing communications. Act as SME for Ordinary Selling Price, representations, claims and competitor activities.
• Develop and negotiate agreements to address new legal developments, risks, and trends. Assist in high value, high risk contracts. Train contract negotiation teams to work independently to the extent possible.
• Ensure product compliance with laws related to product liability, safety, importation rand intellectual property
• Develop policies and evaluate position on operations, promotions and risks identified or causes by customer escalations
• Manage identification and exception requests for various municipalities
• Supervise preparation, documentation, and counsel instruction for small claims actions, and manage enterprise reporting

What were’ looking for:

• 2+ years of post-call experience, preferably a member of the Law Society of B.C. or Ontario, with solid corporate/commercial and litigation law experience obtained at a law firm or in a similar in-house role.
• Written and spoken French an asset.
