Working for Pembina means working safely.Overview:Pembina’s Information Service Unit (ISU) is seeking a Senior Data Scientist specializing in Advanced Analytics. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the development of data products and analyses, utilizing Big Data and statistical techniques such as Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) as we progress our digitalization journey which will enable Pembina to achieve it’s strategy. As part of a dynamic team, you will contribute to the expansion of our growing portfolio of data products that enhance Pembina’s value by reducing operational costs, increasing revenue, and managing risk. In the role of Senior Data Scientist, you will spearhead our Advanced Analytics AI/ML practices. Your responsibilities will include developing solutions that address business opportunities through the strategic use of data and analytics. This will encompass the creation of advanced algorithms, the construction of data pipelines, ML engineering, and data visualization.The Information Services Unit has the responsibility to manage and maintain the company’s infrastructure, providing technical support, ensuring data security and accessibility, implement new technology, strategize for future development, manage vendors, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.   • Create data models, statistical models and methodologies, in concert with foundational data architecture that creates actionable business value;
  • Collaborating with a dedicated team of Data Engineers, Software Engineers, and DevOps to drive data-driven initiatives;
  • Leading the creation and adoption of AI/ML best practices, while fostering innovation by staying updated with the latest advancements in these fields;
  • Collaborating with various business teams to understand their challenges and framing them as opportunities for Big Data or AI/ML solutions that can provide actionable insights;
  • As a full stack data scientist, developing comprehensive data solutions that include data pipelines, ML, predictive modeling, and visual interfaces to guide Pembina towards optimized outcomes;

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related quantitative field. A Master’s or PhD degree is a plus;
  • Demonstrated experience in various ML algorithms, statistical modeling, and data mining techniques;
  • Extensive experience with using standard data science libraries (scikit-learn, pandas, Tensorflow, Keras, etc.);
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, and big data technologies tools like Spark;
  • Experience with Azure cloud platforms, and familiarity with data pipeline tools (Airflow, Databricks) and data storage (Data Lake, Postgres, SQL Server, OSIsoft PI);
  • Experience participating in agile development, version control (Git), and CI/CD principles;
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Matplotlib, Plotly or D3.js) to effectively present complex data insights;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex analytical concepts effectively to all levels of stakeholders; and
  • Experience in optimization projects within midstream industry, particularly in areas such as pipeline scheduling, facility operations, integrity management, logistics and commodity marketing, is highly valued.
