Ecology Solutions has an excellent opportunity for an experienced ecological professional to
join our successful ecological consultancy. We are seeking a dedicated, driven and
self-motivated individual to become an integral part of our committed team.
Ecology Solutions is a leading ecology consultancy practice. With over 35 years of experience
in the field, we provide specialist advice and services to clients in the private and
commercial sectors, negotiating extensively with local planning authorities, non-departmental
public bodies and charities. We also work with our partner companies specialising in landscape
consultancy and creation.
Working in a fast-paced environment, the successful candidate will take a lead role in project
management and mentoring of junior staff. They will report directly to the Directors, however,
a high level of autonomy should be expected as part of the role.
We are looking for an individual with a well-rounded ecological skillset, including extensive
surveying experience, excellent written skills, and an ability to effectively manage large
scale projects. The following experience and skill sets are desired:
- Good botanical skills, with the ability to undertake botanical surveys in accordance with
UKHab and NVC survey methodologies; - Experience leading a wide range of protected species surveys including for Great Crested
Newts, bats, Badgers, Dormice and reptiles (EPS licences desirable); - Ability to undertake analysis using DEFRA Metrics;
- Production of reports including Ecological Assessments, EIA and sHRA reports;
- Liaison with clients and statutory consultees;
- Project management experience on schemes of varying scale; and
- IT literate, including Microsoft packages and QGIS.

The position will include working on site, but otherwise can be either office based or hybrid
working. Given the location of our projects, a full driving licence will be required.
