Job title: Senior Software Engineer – SMCSLocation: New Malden – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.Salary: Circa £55,000 dependent on skills and experienceWhat you’ll be doing:

  • Applying experience to take a lead role in the design, implement & test SMCS system solutions.
  • Guiding and mentoring other Software Engineers in their efforts throughout the lifecycle.
  • Assisting the management team with reporting, planning, and estimation activities.
  • Meeting the SMCS customers and end users, as required, to enable development of the SMCS Programme(s) and the continued evolution of the SMCS product as required.
  • Ensure documents, software and other work products are stored and managed correctly within a configuration management system.
  • Improve software performance by the capture and analysis of measurements.

Your skills and experiences:Essential:

  • Experience taking lead decisions in a software development role
  • A strong understanding of all aspects of a software lifecycle and good knowledge of software lifecycle models (e.g. waterfall, Agile, Spiral)
  • Experience of using a high-level design methodology (e.g. UML)

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting multiple complex programmes
  • Experience with estimating for project bids
  • Strong experience of using at least one high level programming language (e.g. ADA, C++, C#)

Engineers at all levels should possess an academic qualification in Engineering or other related STEM subjects as well as specific (either academic or professional) qualifications and become recognised as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through an appropriate recognised professional institution. Engineers are encouraged, and will be supported, to achieve the relevant accreditation.
