Senior Engineer Lead – EV Battery Remanufacturing Europe (based UK)Overview: As a Senior Engineer Lead, specializing in Electric Vehicle (EV) Battery Remanufacturing, you will lead the European team in the development and implementation of processes and technologies to remanufacture and refurbish EV batteries across our European footprint (currently Rugby in the UK and Ede in The Netherlands) and partner with our US teams on best practice and global alignment for our customers, wherever possible. You will play a crucial role in extending the lifespan of EV batteries, reducing waste, and promoting sustainability in the electric mobility sector.Key Responsibilities: * Remanufacturing Process Development: Lead a team in the design and optimization of remanufacturing processes for EV batteries, including disassembly, inspection, testing, repair, and reassembly, to ensure high-quality refurbished products.

  • Technology Integration: Identify, develop, and integrate advanced technologies and solutions to streamline remanufacturing processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs while maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control measures and testing protocols to ensure that remanufactured batteries meet or exceed original performance and safety standards with a deep understanding of FMEA.
  • Component Reconditioning: Collaborate with suppliers, vendors, and customers to develop methods for reconditioning batteries and their components. Involves developing and maintaining relationships with OEM customers.
  • Data Analysis and Optimization: Utilize data analytics and continuous improvement methodologies to analyze remanufacturing processes, identify areas for optimization, and implement solutions to enhance productivity and resource utilization.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of regulations and standards governing battery remanufacturing, including environmental and safety requirements, and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, quality assurance, and sustainability, to coordinate remanufacturing efforts and support the integration of remanufactured batteries into EV production and aftermarket channels.
  • Supplier and Partner Management: Cultivate relationships with suppliers, OEM partners, and third-party remanufacturing facilities to support the development and scale-up of EV battery remanufacturing capabilities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., Master’s or PhD) preferred.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in battery remanufacturing, reverse engineering, or related fields, preferably in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
  • Strong technical expertise in battery systems, including cell chemistry, thermal management, and electrical systems, as well as familiarity with battery diagnostics and testing equipment.
  • Proficiency in process engineering, including process design, optimization, and control, with experience in implementing automation and robotics solutions preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and managing projects from conception to completion.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
