Salary: £39,635 + London Weighting Allowance £2,016 for the London role only

About Us:
As a Senior Environmental Crime Officer, you’ll be part of one of our new water industry
enforcement teams, providing the on lead on enforcement of environmental offences, to
tackle serious/complex performance issues in the water industry. In this new senior role, you
will play an important role at the Environment Agency, identifying and investigating offences
that have impacted the environment.

Environmental Crime Officer, you’ll be based in one of our four enforcement hubs facing the

What will you do:
You’ll lead on and support your colleagues with the construction of case files and lead and
support complex investigations into non-compliance in the water industry. You will understand
how to improve team performance by welcoming challenge and continuous improvement and be
competent in sharing new ways of doing things with the team. You will have a strong knowledge
of the water industry, good decision-making skills and be able to apply business processes to
maximise the use of resources in an efficient and effective way.
Senior Environmental Crime Officers support governance principles by encouraging the delivery
of intelligence-led, outcome-focused and well-managed investigations. You will provide
technical leadership in the following areas:
What you’ll need
Essential
The role will require travel from time to time and so a UK Manual Driving Licence is required.
You’ll have practitioner level investigatory skills and experience in the delivery of at least
one or more significant/serious/complex enforcement case file(s).
You’ll have experience of coaching, mentoring and leading others. Working experience of
relevant legislation, for example the Environmental Permitting Regulations, the Environment
Act, the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, the Criminal Procedures and Investigations Act and
the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act is also essential to you being able to carry out
this role.
