How can you make a difference?
- Advise and assist on all aspects related to preparation of reports, compilation of data and answering queries on pledges recorded, funds received, adjustments made to ensure financial compliance, accuracy and completeness of data for its inclusion into statement of accounts and adjustment of budgets. Advise units of discrepancies and assist to resolve differences in their records
- Maintains financial records and monitoring systems to record and reconcile expenditures, balances, payments, statements and other data for day-to-day transactions and reports
- Process cash receipts to ensure their timely deposit and recording in UNICEF system
- Initiate finance requests in Service Gateway and liaise with GSSC until the completion of the case
- Advise and assist Staff, Experts, and Consultants on all aspects of allowances, salary advances, travel claims and other financial matters, ensuring calculations are correct and authorizes payments due for claims and services
- Initiate correspondence to verify data, answers queries and obtains additional information on accounts and financial transactions, as required.
- Maintains liaisons with officials of local banks to obtain day-to-day information on exchange and interest rates, changes in procedures and regulations, and matters pertaining to maintenance of office bank accounts. This includes prepares recurring reports and bank reconciliation.
- Contributes to the monthly and annual closing of accounts and participates in the preparation of annual reports on accounts receivable, accounts payable, prepayments, transfers and leave balances, etc.
- Perform checks of DCT transactions (transfer, adjustments, reprogramming and liquidation) supporting documents before the recording in Vision.
- Support in the implementation and monitoring of Humanitarian cash transfer activities
- Provides support in the implementation and monitoring of the Harmonized Approach to Cash Transfer (HACT) as required
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Completion of secondary education is required preferably supplemented by professional or university courses in Accounting, Finance, Business administration, or Economy
Completion of certificate level accounting courses and knowledge of IPSAS is desirable
- A minimum of 7 years of clerical experience in finance, accounting, audit, grant or partnership management is required.
Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset
Experience in team supervision and management is an asset
Fluency in French and working knowledge of English are required. Knowledge of a local language is an asset.
