RINA is currently recruiting for a Senior Gas Turbine Engineering Consultant to join its office in Leatherhead within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.The RoleIn this role, you’ll be at the forefront of our gas turbine consultancy services, working on diverse and impactful projects. From component and equipment condition assessments to failure investigations, your expertise will help guide power plant operators and insurers to make informed decisions.You’ll have the opportunity to:Lead Investigations: Conduct detailed failure investigations and equipment assessments using our state-of-the-art laboratories and advanced engineering analysis.
Provide Expert Advice: Offer technical guidance to clients, helping them optimize their operations and reduce risk.
Present Your Findings: Prepare comprehensive technical reports and present your findings to clients, ensuring they fully understand the solutions you provide.
Travel Globally: Occasionally travel to client sites, both in the UK and internationally, to view equipment and deliver on-site consultancy services.About YouTo excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • A degree in engineering, material science, or a related discipline. A higher degree (PhD or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of gas and/or steam turbines and the materials used in their construction.
  • Experience in component assessment, failure investigations and operational data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.
  • A full UK driving license is preferred.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Sound knowledge of gas turbines and their engineering basis.
  • Sound understanding of turbine materials and their in-service behaviour and degradation.
  • Experience analysing/modelling operational data
  • Experience in life assessments, damage mechanisms, and investigating the physical condition of the equipment.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering technical projects.

Skills:

  • Methodical and hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communicator with strong listening skills and a flexible approach to work.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Exceptional report writing skills.
