Job Description:Our client is seeking a highly motivated exploration geologist to assist development of kimberlite models from exploration activities related to logging and sampling to petrological data interpretation to 3D modelling the kimberlite bodies.Responsibilities:Support the process of kimberlite resource model construction through collection and analysis of a variety of geological data acquired through core logging, thin section and petrographic analysis, geochemical and geophysical surveys.
Work closely with team to interpret results to create geological models for use in decision making and future mine planning
Custodian of data management;
Build strong working relationships with stakeholdersRequirements: Qualification and SkillA minimum of 10 years geological (field, exploration) experience preferred. Internships experience in geoscience will also be considered;
BSc, MSc, PhD in Geology with a focus on igneous systems, volcanology and petrology.
Professionally affiliated geoscientist
Knowledge of kimberlite process advantageous;
Experience in drill core logging, taking analytical measurements (e.g. density and sampling), thin section microscopy to support the creation of geological models;
Experience with geological modelling software
Time management, problem solving and analytical skills and attention to detail;
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills to articulate communication
Demonstrate commitment to safety, environmental standards compliance and community
