Duties and Responsibilities
As an established global knowledge brokerage, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP) is a global community of policy, business, and finance professionals and organisations committed to collaboratively generating, managing, and sharing knowledge on the transition to an inclusive green and circular economy. The GGKP is led by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the World Bank. The mission of GGKP is to empower government decision makers, companies and financial institutions with evidence-based knowledge that can best support them to contribute effectively to the green and circular economy transition. GGKP provides its best practice knowledge brokerage services through its three core platforms, the Green Policy Platform, the Green Industry Platform, and the Green Finance Platform, as well as its online interactive community space, the Green Forum. In addition to its three platforms and the Green Forum, GGKP also provides targeted knowledge management, communication and stakeholder engagement services for global projects funded under the Global Environment Facility (GEF). The core focuses of GGKP as a knowledge brokerage are: ●Using world-class knowledge management, communication and application systems and tools to provide practitioners, policymakers, and other experts with opportunities to access, share, and apply green and circular economy policy analysis, guidance, information, and data. ●Identifying major knowledge gaps in green and circular economy theory and practice and addressing these gaps by promoting collaboration and coordinated research. A core aspect of GGKP’s work, supported by the EU, is to enhance green and circular economy knowledge generation, management and sharing globally as part of the EU Action “Accelerating the global transition to a green and circular economy”. To achieve this objective GGKP aims to ensure a clear alignment between those stakeholders that, 1) produce knowledge, 2) provide enabling policy environment and financial supports, and 3) those that are the end-users of the same. A Senior Knowledge Management Specialist is sought to support the GGKP deliver high quality strategic knowledge management activities both internally and externally. This role entails leading knowledge project activities, coordinating web development projects, and ensuring high-quality content and user-friendly access to knowledge. The Specialist will lead the development and management/oversight of the GGKP platforms, GGKP hosted knowledge hubs (in particular those relating to GGKP’s GEF projects) and initiative pages, collaborating closely with the GGKP knowledge management team, GGKP partners and the external web development team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality, user-friendly solutions. The Specialist will support a cohesive knowledge management strategy across GGKP and will engage with GGKP partners and key stakeholders to support a unified approach to producing, accessing, and applying green and circular economy knowledge. The Specialist will deliver expert knowledge management and strategic advisory services to enhance the impact and sustainability of knowledge-based projects supported by GGKP, ensuring their outputs remain relevant beyond the project lifespan. This includes securing targeted expertise, fostering collaboration with similar projects, effectively engaging target audiences, and managing and disseminating project-related knowledge. 2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment The purpose of this assignment is: 1.Coordinate the concept design, development and improvement of the GGKP platforms, hosted knowledge hubs and initiative pages, including preparing related scoping and workplans, providing leadership and guidance to teams, monitoring progress, addressing risks, reporting progress to stakeholders, and identifying lessons learned from project outcomes to inform future planning and execution. 2.Provide expert knowledge management guidance to external projects being supported and/or hosted by GGKP, including on knowledge management strategies, developing knowledge management teams, designing knowledge hubs, establishing metrics to measure knowledge hub effectiveness, training on utilizing GGKP hosted Knowledge Hubs effectively, and collaborating with similar projects. 3.Lead outreach efforts to foster relationships with external knowledge hubs, identifying collaboration opportunities, promoting GGKP’s project competence center and support GGKP funding mobilisation efforts. 4.Implement knowledge quality assurance processes within GGKP, monitoring feedback to ensure accuracy and reliability, while regularly reviewing and updating the processes to maintain effectiveness. 5.Serve as the main coordination focal point for GGKP’s external web developers, overseeing and reviewing web development activites to ensure timely completion within agreed budgets. 6.Lead GGKP’s internal knowledge management process of identification, curation, development, and publication of relevant knowledge products. 7.Manage the development of the GGKP and GEF ISLANDS country page enhancement project and the GEF ISLANDS website update. 8.Support the knowledge management training of GGKP’s GEF ISLANDS’ new project team to ensure efficient and effective delivery of related project activities.
Qualifications/special skills
An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in communications, business, knowledge management or a closely related area. A first level university degree (bachelor’s or equivalent) may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree in combination with two years of additional work experience. ●Proven experience in developing knowledge management systems and user-friendly knowledge platforms, ideally based on drupal systems and within international organizations, is required. ●Demonstrated ability in engaging governmental, intergovernmental, and non- governmental stakeholders to foster strategic partnerships is required. ●Experience of managing projects with external web-developers is preferred. ●Experience with knowledge management strategy development and translating data insights into actionable recommendations is preferred. ●Proficiency in utilizing technological tools such as Google Analytics, Excel, Canva, and HTML to optimize knowledge management processes is preferred. ●Experience of developing and managing contracts/agreements with external partners is an advantage. ●Experience with data reporting is an advantage
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
