Senior Landscape and Urban Design Officer

Come and join the team!

Our award-winning Green Infrastructure approach is supported by our Green Infrastructure Strategy and guided by robust landscape led policies in the Replacement Local Development Plan. Sat within the multi-disciplinary Green Infrastructure and Nature Recovery Team and working closely with Planning Policy and Development Management teams you’ll contribute to sustainable development that supports a strong place making approach whilst balancing landscape and ecological resilience. This is a rare opportunity to make a lasting impact in a place where landscape really matters.

What you’ll do

  • Provide expert advice on landscape, urban design, and green infrastructure for development management and planning policy.
  • Help shape sustainable development that balances landscape and ecological resilience with strong placemaking.
  • Contribute to the protection and enhancement of Monmouthshire’s natural and built environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, external partners, and local communities to deliver positive change.
  • Support training and development for staff across the authority.

What we’re looking for

  • Relevant experience in green infrastructure, landscape/urban design, and understanding of sensitive/protected landscapes.
  • Degree or professional qualification in Landscape Architecture or Urban Design, or at least 5 years’ demonstrable experience.
  • Knowledge of the Welsh Planning system and landscape assessment tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to health & safety, safeguarding, and equal opportunities.

Salary & benefits

  • Grade: Band I £41,771 – £46,142 pa (Permanent)
  • Location: County Hall, Usk (may change if service relocates) flexible working
  • Hours: 37 per week
  • No DBS required
  • Welsh language skills desirable

How to apply

  • Closing Date: 23rd November 2025
  • Interviews: 1st & 2nd December 2025
