Permanent with the opportunity for full or part-time hoursThe Health Sciences University (HSU: formerly AECC University College) is a specialist health sciences institution and centre of excellence dedicated to excellent education, clinical care and applied research.Following the recent approval of our new university title HSU in July 2024 and the merger of the University College of Osteopathy into the HSU family from 1st August 2024, the institution is in a phase of growth and transformation across our campuses in Bournemouth and central London.As part of these expansion plans, we are delighted to announce the launch of our Health Business School in central London. The successful candidate will join a team of senior academics in launching the Health Business School, its research centre and will support the team initially, by co-delivering a suite of postgraduate courses from February 2025.We are highly values-driven, inspired by our mission to ‘create a healthier society through education, research and clinical care’ with highly dedicated and capable staff and students working together within a caring and inclusive community. We are part-way through the delivery of our Strategic Plan 2021-2026, entitled Fit for the Future, which we will refresh in the coming weeks to reflect recent institutional changes and the development of our Health Business School.About the roleThis is a hugely exciting role, and the successful candidate will join an initially small but highly experienced team in progressing the development of our new Health Business School and its postgraduate programmes. The role will require an all-round experienced academic ideally with professional practical experience in the candidate’s key subject areas. Initially the role requires leading and/or teaching on at least two units within the area of Global Healthcare Management as follows: global healthcare challenges, leadership, strategy, projects, HR management, organisational behaviour, research methods, (particularly quantitative), innovation and digital transformation, accounting and finance, sustainability in healthcare, health policy, and/or health economics. Engagement with additional postgraduate MSc and MBA programmes will be required as the Health Business School develops.Professional experience of working in the management of healthcare would be an advantage, though is not essential.The successful candidate will deliver teaching in a variety of different learning environments, teaching styles and approaches, as appropriate at postgraduate study. Academic and pastoral feedback will be required to support students to the highest professional standards enhancing also, the student experience.Key duties will include contributing to an outstanding student experience, delivering excellent graduate outcomes for all by:

  • Leading postgraduate courses and/or units as required, providing teaching and student
  • support at postgraduate level of study;
  • Providing teaching in a variety of learning settings, co-working with academics and members of our visiting faculty, including seminar and small group tutorials including for online student engagement, large lectures, workshops, using appropriate, engaging and interactive teaching styles;
  • Creating and developing teaching materials, assessment methods and performance criteria for specific units, for use in blended learning contexts, with understanding for quality assurance requirements;
  • Supervising students’ dissertations and/or development of their consultancy projects, working in a timely, professional and supportive manner;
  • Offering appropriate advice, feedback, support, and encouragement to students, as a senior academic and personal tutor, providing for a high-quality student experience;
  • Engagement in assessment boards, programme meetings, validation and revalidation activities.
