Senior Lecturer (Academic) in Archaeological Science (Geophysical Prospection)

The Department of Archaeology and Anthropology offers a vibrant research and learning culture with a strong reputation for practical, applied and theoretically-informed archaeological and anthropological science. Our research expertise spans three main themes: artefacts, places and landscapes (especially the use of remote sensing, geophysical and geographical techniques alongside material culture, production and consumption); communities and identities (especially diet, subsistence and mobility, the anthropology of conflict and violence, and cultural identity); and animals, plants and environments (especially human/animal interactions, palaeoecological reconstruction of past environments and human response to environmental change). Working closely with the Department is The Institute for Modelling Socio-Environmental Transitions (IMSET).

As Lecturer in Archaeological Science (Geophysical Prospection) you will be able to demonstrate expertise in an area of Geophysical Prospection in archaeology that complements and/or expands our existing Archaeological Science teaching and research capacity. Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy, you will contribute to education delivery, including programme management as required, across the range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. Enthusiastic about research, you will also be ambitious in developing a portfolio of high-quality research outputs as well as grant applications. Finally, you will also be expected to make a significant contribution to employability, and professional engagement with relevant internal and external organisations, at a regional, national and international level.

Applications are welcome from those with particular expertise in all areas of Geophysical Prospection in archaeology, with research interests in the field of Cultural heritage a desirable attribute. You will have experience of inter-disciplinary research and/or teaching, and Experience of teaching practical field, laboratory or analytical skills is particularly welcome.
