In 2024 we will open our new Centre for Integrative Semiconductor Materials (CISM) – a £55M state-of-the-art semiconductor facility for fabrication and study of advanced semiconductor materials and devices. CISM is unique in the UK-context: it is a university-fab built on manufacturing principles with industry relevant tool sets and capacity for pilot foundry. We specialise in semiconductors for healthcare, clean energy, efficient power and micro-electronics, and over-the-horizon concepts such as ionics and bioelectronics. Our research foci are underpinned by principles in semiconductor innovation for net zero, advanced heterogeneous integration and manufacturing circularity. CISM is closely linked to the South Wales and UK semiconductor industry, and has a portfolio of >£20M of projects, most with close industry cooperation. Our CISM community of >70 researchers is formed around an Interdisciplinary Research Institute drawn from Physics, Chemistry and Engineering disciplines, with partnerships across the globe.An opportunity has arisen to join this thriving ecosystem. The , with in Applied Materials, Antimatter Physics and Theoretical High Energy Physics, wishes to recruit a Semiconductor Physicist. The ideal candidate will have internationally significant and growing track record in any area of semiconductor physics, with preference for expertise in molecular semiconductors (organics, perovskites, 2D, etc.), other next-generation platforms such as wide-gap oxides, particularly aligned with the CISM foci areas. CISM is a world-class semiconductor research and innovation facility, and we can provide opportunities for close connections to industry, and a passion for technology development, advancement and commercialisation. Our focus is to drive the highest quality fundamental and applied research to impact and outcomes meaningful to the Net Zero imperative.
