Location: Strand CampusContact details: Professor Michael Sanders.About the roleWe are looking to recruit a senior lecturer in economics and public policy to work within the Policy Institute at King’s. This role will be a senior member of the academic staff of the Policy Institute and contribute to the academic life of the institute.The candidate will be expected to have, and to build, an active research pipeline in their chosen field. They will be supported to bid for and deliver research grants and contracts and will also be encouraged and supported to supervise doctoral students, and to play an active and leading role in the Policy Institute’s Doctoral Programme; Executive Education programmes; or another strategic domain.The role requires an experienced individual who understands the contribution of continuing professional development and executive education for public servants. The candidate will have knowledge of the policy sector in the UK, and preferably experience working in the public sector. The postholder will have excellent teaching record, the ability to develop innovative teaching content and delivery methods. Experience of online content delivery is ideal but not essential.This is an exciting time for the Policy Institute, and so we welcome candidates with an entrepreneurial approach to their workThis is a full time post and on an indefinite contract.About youTo be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:Essential criteria * A PhD in Economics

  • An active research portfolio and pipeline
  • An excellent track record in teaching and education at PGT level
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organise, plan and prioritise own workload
  • Experience with educating students from diverse cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to understand, and interest in, the needs of working professionals
  • Ability to prepare teaching materials

Desirable criteria * Experiencing supervising doctoral students

  • Experience winning grants and/or competitive tenders
  • Experience working in government
  • Experience in designing, developing, or delivering executive education
