About the Role

The School of Business and Management (SBM) seeks to recruit an inspirational teacher and educational leader to a Senior Lectureship in Operation Management. This is a Teaching and Scholarship focused position, which offers an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the delivery, design and pedagogy of existing and new UG and PG programmes in a rapidly growing and distinctive business and management school. This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the further development of the Department of Business Analytics and Applied Economics (BAAE), in line with SBM’s values and mission. All applicants should have the ability to teach and supervise effectively across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the Department of Business Analytics and Applied Economics (BAAE). The successful candidate will be offered a teaching and scholarship contract.

About You

You should be able to demonstrate you are a teacher and educational leader, passionate about delivering undergraduate and postgraduate modules to a global and diverse classroom. As a Senior Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in the Department of Business Analytics and Applied Economics, your main responsibilities will be leading and delivering modules in operation management for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as supervising dissertation projects. The ideal candidate will hold a doctorate in operation management and demonstrate a strong understanding of practice and commitment to research-based teaching. Additionally, the department is seeking someone who is passionate about exploring new pedagogical approaches that cater to the diverse student population. The successful candidate should also have experience in engaging large numbers of students and delivering inspiring teaching within this context.

In this role, you will not only be expected to contribute to scholarship within the field of operation management but also to enhance teaching and learning by introducing innovative practices. You will also be involved in the administration of the department/school and promote public engagement with the subject. As a Senior Lecturer, you will also play a key role in supporting the development of junior colleagues.

About the School of Business and Management and the Department of Business Analytics and Applied Economics

The School of Business and Management is one of the eight schools in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The School has been undergoing a period of rapid growth, doubling our number of academic staff over the last five years. We presently have 121 academic staff and a large team of Teaching Fellows and TAs. We have over 2,000 undergraduate business studies students and, at the post-graduate level, approximately 1,000 MSc students and a well-established doctoral programme of around 80 students.

SBM’s core purpose is to promote social justice, sustainability and good governance in the management of private, public and voluntary organisations through our research and education. The post is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full time, permanent appointment, with a start date as soon as feasible for the successful candidate. The starting salary will be Grade 7 in the range of £60,128 – £67,139 inclusive of London Allowance,¿
