About us:The School of Applied Sciences at UWE Bristol is one of the largest education centres for healthcare science in the UK. Three BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science Practitioner degree apprenticeship programmes are offered, including Physiological Sciences, Clinical Engineering and Medical Physics Technology. The school also delivers three commissioned programmes: a PGCert in Clinical Echocardiography, a PGCert in Sleep Medicine and a Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Science. We have a strong reputation in delivering both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Biomedical sciences and we are developing a new MPharm programme.We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Physiology (Respiratory) to support a range of established undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science (Physiological Sciences), BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science, and Graduate Diploma Respiratory Science. The successful candidate will also support new developments such as the MPharm and will in future contribute to the delivery of physiology within this new course.This is a full time permanent post that will focus on delivering excellence in teaching and academic support. We are looking for candidates with teaching experience across physiology with significant experience of respiratory science. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching related to physiology. Experience of supervising final year research projects in physiology and experience of module and programme development would be an advantage.We are looking for candidates who align to the UWE values. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate their experience of leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and their organisational skills. You will be expected to demonstrate how they will keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks.The successful candidate will be supported in this role by an experienced senior lecturer as a mentor.
