POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager, Communications  will assist the COP/DCOP and component managers in planning and implementing communication activities of FSTIP project. The Senior Manager, Communications will update the communication strategy for the project to maximize the visibility of the project to various stakeholders including the Government of Bangladesh (GoB), donor, and civil society stakeholders. The Senior Manager, Communications will work to publicize the results achieved by the FSTIP project, its partner organizations, and volunteer groups (peer leader and ANIRBAN) through designing and publishing high-quality publications and producing video documentaries. S/he will coordinate with national and local government officials, counter-trafficking committees, and volunteer groups in FSTIP’s target geographic locations to identify stories to portray vividly the successes of the project through state-of- the-art print materials as well as video documentaries. S/he should produce communication materials following Winrock International’s rules and regulations relating to publications for printing materials and production of video and maintaining the branding and marking policy of USAID. The Senior Manager, Communications should keep in mind that FSTIP is a counter human trafficking and child marriage project that also emphasizes gender, social inclusion, youth, and the host community in Cox’s Bazar, impacted by the Rohingya influx. The Senior Manager, Communications will also implement USAID requirements for making the publications accepted and appreciated by them as the donor of FSTIP Activity.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Updates the FSTIP communications strategy to include new innovative ideas and plans to develop and disseminate project’s success to a wider audience.
  • Develops detailed communication and media plans including event calendars and assists team members in planning and supporting the implementation of events by timely producing communication materials.
  • Develops content and coordinates creative execution to provide a consistent, targeted, and impactful
  • Builds and maintains solid partnerships with assigned internal clients to better develop, coordinate, direct, and facilitate strategic communications designed to meet the project goals.
  • Collects issue/event-based messages and information together with photos from component managers and partner staff members to design and publish bi-annual project update and quarterly newsletters with support from the project and partners, and prepares event reports, thematic reports,
  • Plans, designs and prepares complete project brief, brochure, and annual report and support quality
  • Provide training to staff members of partner organizations on quality photography for program purposes.
  • Builds capacity of community radio staff to develop and produce radio programs using more effective and contemporary contents on TIP and CM.
  • Engages national, divisional and local media to develop and disseminate messages on safe migration, TIP, and CM.
  • Designs and publishes fact sheet, updates the existing one pager and develops IEC materials with appropriate messages and photos/illustrations.
  • Designs day-observance plans such as IWD, World Day against Trafficking-in-Persons, International Migrants Day and publishes promotional materials and publications before and after the Day including Twitter message and Facebook postings (Winrock and USAID).
  • Maintains regular communications with Winrock International’s Comms Team for its guidance on publications and uploading items on USAID and Winrock web portals and social media.
  • Directs in-house and external graphic designers, photographers, and other media production to align thematically with project goals.
  • Designs and produces high-quality video documentaries on the project’s success stories including the case studies of the TIP and CM survivors.
  • Uploads promotional materials on social media including Facebook, Twitter, and
  • Contributes ideas for new communication activities, researching and recommending innovative branding techniques aligning with USAID’s branding and marking policy.
  • Prepares and publishes press releases (print, electronic, and online media) on major/important events of FSTIP and publishes newspaper articles on TIP and/or CM issues.
  • Provides expert input in making the publications such as training modules, handbooks, and booklets more attractive and communicative.
  • Visits project field locations to document events or activities and collect success/impact stories.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s level/Graduate degree required in Mass Communications and Journalism, English or any relevant subjects from a reputable university.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of five years’ experience managing and implementing complex communication activities within a counter trafficking-in-persons program for international development projects, preferably with a USAID funded program.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and publishing high-quality publications both in Bangla and English and producing high-quality video documentaries.
  • Experience developing program communications and reports on project
  • Demonstrated experience with all types of social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, ).

Skills:

  • Fluent in Bangla and English
  • Microsoft Office
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in teams and in a multicultural
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and manage multiple competing priorities and activities.
  • Experience in operating Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
