Primary responsibilities include: i) review and analysis of financial results, ii) preparation of consolidation accounting adjustments, and iii) preparation of consolidated financial statements and disclosures.Reporting to the Director, Consolidation, you will also assess the accounting impact of, or provide operational guidance on, new Business or Finance initiatives / products / processes, and perform analytical review on accounting matters as assigned.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How You’ll SucceedAbility to Problem Solve – You are capable of resolving financial reporting issues, and supporting complex accounting matters.Attention to Detail – You are prudent and committed to getting things right. You speak up when things don’t make sense or when you do not fully understand information that has been provided or prepared by other team members or stakeholders.Analytical Skills – You are highly analytical and skilled at analyzing and interpreting high volume and complex data sets from multiple sources, and articulating findings in plain language.Communication – You have outstanding verbal and written communication skills which will enable you to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the bank on accounting issues.Organizational Skills – You possess excellent time management skills and are able to manage conflicting priorities to produce high quality work under pressure and tight timelines. You are able to effectively track open issues and questions as well as outstanding information requirements, and follow-up promptly on these items.Who You AreYou act like an owner. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.You can demonstrate at least 6 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, preferably experience with consolidation accounting that includes entities with multiple currencies and legal entity structures with multiple levels of subsidiaries. In addition, you have experience with International Financial Reporting Standards and/or financial reporting, and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It’s an asset if you have knowledge of financial institutions and associated regulatory requirements (i.e. OSFI/OSC/SEC).You’re a certified professional. You have current accreditation and good standing as a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)Values matter to you.
