IATA is more than a trade association; it is a vision of a better future for air travel.About the team you are joiningReporting to the Head Customer Experience & Facilitation within the Operations, Safety & Security Division’s Infrastructure & Customer Experience and Facilitation team, the Senior Manager, Facilitation – Passenger Data is responsible for the development of global regulatory and industry passenger data standards, and in the guidance to support implementation. The candidate will work closely with member airlines, governments, international organizations and industry partners, and will support other industry working groups related to passenger data, mainly API and PNR. The candidate will lead and represent the industry on the future of passenger data exchange in the the delivery and fulfilment of orders.What your day would be like

  • Utilize advice from IATA central and regional teams, member airlines and advisory groups to establish consensus policy positions, standards and best practices relating to passenger datasystems and requirements.
  • Guide the development of effective globally aligned and harmonized processes controlling the transfer of passenger data from airlines to authorities.
  • Develop, publish and maintain appropriate resources and guidance materials as required, disseminate relevant information to member airlines and governmental agencies and their personnel
  • Encourage the use of these resources and engage in government/industry negotiations and discussions notably for the implementation of standard and compliant passenger data programs by Governments.
  • Contribute to the development and review of national legislations and programs for ensuring their alignment with international standards and guidelines.
  • Provide regular updates on the developments of passenger data requests and implementation worldwide.
  • Lead the industry groups responsible for administrating the PAXLST and PNRGOV message modification processes, in accordance with the approval process and in coordination with the WCO/IATA/ICAO API PNR Contact Committee.
  • Support the administration of passenger data working group related to PNR and API messaging standards.
  • Support IATA local and regional office when they seek advice on the implementation of passenger data programs by States.
  • Develop and maintain training and promotion material including IATA trainings on passenger data, the passenger data toolkit, and other relevant guidance.
  • Support IATA capacity building exercise and deliver workshops on passenger data.
  • Represent IATA in international fora as required including on political fronts (ICAO Facilitation Panel, WCO/IATA/ICAO API PNR Contact Committee, etc.).
  • Maintain and enhance training, consulting and strategic partnership opportunities.
  • Manage the stakeholder relationships in the relevant working groups and taskforces under the Travel Standards Board, taking the role of secretariat where required.

We would love to hear from you if

  • University degree in the relevant field (or equivalent qualification) with at least ten years of experience with an airline, government or system provider.
  • Comprehensive understanding of international airline passenger operations, the role of IATA and other related organizations, and the basic tenants of Facilitation, including familiarity with ICAO’s Annex 9 Facilitation and related technical guidelines and material on passenger data.
  • Result-oriented, strong project management and leadership skills and a drive to deliver complex projects.
  • Good understanding of data structure, UN/EDIFACT standards, XML and JSON messaging.
  • Able to manage multiple disparate stakeholder expectations and consolidate the outcomes to deliver new messaging standards.
  • Ability to think “out of the box” and challenge current ways of working in order to drive continuous process improvement.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; knowledge of other language would be an asset.
  • Ability to travel and work to tight deadlines.
  • Ability to discuss complex technical subjects with clarity and precision.
