About the Position

The Senior Manager, Global Accounting and Finance manages all aspects of CIVIC’s day-to-day accounting and financial reporting. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures that support the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements. This requires meeting tight deadlines related to accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation. The Senior Manager, Global Accounting and Finance is also responsible for ensuring that field office financial management aligns with headquarters and grant regulations, and that information produced is of the standard required.

Key Functions

Accounting

  • Oversee full-cycle monthly accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, overhead allocations, and reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts;
  • Manage the monthly financial close process, ensuring that accounting transactions are complete, valid and properly recorded;
  • Manage the grant accounting process and ensure that revenue is recognized accurately and promptly in accordance with US GAAP;
  • Prepare cash flow forecasts to facilitate proper management of available funds;
  • Oversee field office accounting and financial management, and consolidate field office financial information;
  • Work with external auditors to complete annual audit and Form 990;
  • Generate 1099’s and W-2’s for consultants and staff;
  • Assist with developing financial policies and procedures for HQ and field office staff; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Financial Management

  • Provide analysis and meaningful insights of operating expenses;
  • Prepare financial schedules and reports as requested by Operations and Program Directors, for routine monthly management and for public view, such as the Annual Report and quarterly meetings of the Board of Directors.

Financial System Management

  • Maintain details for all financial systems, including GL coding, adding/deleting users, and establishing approval routes.

Other

  • Support periodic global compliance program assessments and assist with annual prioritization of CIVIC’s global compliance initiatives.
  • Identify, develop, and implement business process improvements to enhance efficiency and improve productivity.

The position manages accounting staff including the International Field Operations Manager.

International travel (<10%)

Qualifications

  • Active Certified Public Accounting license required;
  • Minimum of eight years non-profit full-cycle accounting experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reports;
  • Knowledge of working with international NGOs (INGO);
  • Ability to perform and prioritize competing projects and tasks with ease and professionalism;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English;
  • Must be able to keep CIVIC matters strictly confidential;
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and accounting software skills;
  • Knowledge of MIP is preferred.
