Job PurposeThe Senior Manager R&D will play a pivotal role in enhancing the operational efficiency and strategic execution of projects within the R&D area. Reporting to the Chief of Staff R&D this role is designed to support the Chief of Staff in managing and coordinating various projects, ensuring efficient processes, driving strategic initiatives especially with respect to data analysis and visualisation and collaborate on crafting strategic messages.
In particular, this position encompasses the fast-paced development and execution of analyses in response to requests of the Executive Board. This includes the on-demand development of materials, especially scientific analysis, related with the R&D area for investor-facing MoonLake events (e.g., R&D Day, Capital Markets Update, investor conferences).
The Senior Manager R&D will work across R&D departments, e.g., Clinical Operations, Biometrics, Bioanalysis. They will also work closely with the Senior Director Project Management and her team and other key stakeholders when needed.Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Chief of Staff, R&D, on a variety of topics within the clinical development landscape to drive strategic initiatives and ensure operational excellence
  • Drive fast-paced data analysis initiatives to drive insights and inform decision-making within R&D departments – leveraging relevant tools for analysis and visualisation (e.g., PowerBI)
  • Ensure the accuracy of existing clinical development project plans, including pressure-testing of timelines, budgets, and resource allocations
  • Oversee the execution of projects, monitor progress, and make necessary adjustments to ensure successful delivery
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and promptly esca-late any issues
  • Support the creation of documents for decisive meetings with external stakeholders representing the R&D area, e.g., for Capital Markets Updates
  • Identify potential risks in project execution and jointly develop mitigation strategies to address them
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and im-prove efficiency within clinical development projects
  • Assist in the implementation of strategic initiatives and organisational goals within the Clinical Development area

Your profileEducation:

  • Master’s degree in business administration, Management or Science; MD degree is a plus; PhD and/or MBA is a plus

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in Consultancy, Pharmaceutical, Biotech industry or other relevant areas
  • Proven experience, preferably as a project manager or other comparable roles
  • Understanding and/or experience of working within/with several functional areas in R&D such as clinical, preclinical, CMC or regulatory affairs (desirable)

Skills/knowledge/behavioural competencies:

  • History of solving problems while exhibiting sound scientific/medical judgement and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues
  • Experience in scientific and clinical data review and interpretation incl. basic understanding of involved statistics
  • In-depth understanding of scientific methods and clinical applications based on medical, scientific, and practical rationale
  • Expertise in data-analysis and visualization incl. usage of relevant tools, e.g., PowerBI
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, interpersonal, relationship-building, and negotiating communication skills
  • Organised, attention to detail and ability to meet timelines in a high-quality manner
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and effectively prioritise workload
  • Agility and flexibility to strive in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of requirements and excellency focus
  • Clinical and disease knowledge base in dermatology and rheumatology (desirable)
  • Familiarity with global regulatory organisation, guidelines, and practices (desirable)
