Being part of BDO Canada allows you to develop your strengths, learn from diverse people, and make an impact.We believe change brings incredible opportunity: the chance to rethink our place in the evolving market, and create a business that’s more innovative, sustainable, and diverse than it’s ever been.Our Calgary office is looking for a Risk Advisory Services Leader for the region of Calgary & Edmonton to join the Advisory team and own the following responsibilities:Manage the Alberta-based risk advisory practiceEstablish strong relationships with clients at all levels of experience, including leadershipExecute a project plan for complex engagements in close collaboration with partnersActively develop business opportunities and contribute to business development and sales initiativesAssist with the development of methodologies, tools and templatesWork closely with consultants and ensure mandate delivery to clients and act as a coach and mentor to team members in order to maximize their potentialDefine resourcing needs and actively participate in hiring team resourcesTake a leadership role in creating a working atmosphere that promotes learning and participate in group events and assist in the building of a team culture/environmentLead the team in executing operational internal audit, IT audit, internal control assessments (SOX 404, NI 52-109), third-party assurance (SOC 1/SOC 2)Provide value-added and relevant analysis of an organization’s internal control structure, performance, productivity and efficiency.Lead and deliver on fraud risk assessments across various business processes.Facilitate client workshops on various topics (including enterprise risk assessments).Assess the governance and internal control environment for various clients and providing value-add observations and recommendations.How do we define success for your role?You demonstrate BDO’s core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect and CollaborationYou understand your client’s industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high quality workYou identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clientsYou share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains & attracts talentYou actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplaceYou grow your expertise through learning and professional development.Your experience and educationDeep professional experience in internal audit, IT audit, risk management, and/or internal control assessments (SOX 404, NI 52-109), third-party assurance (SOC 1/SOC 2)A CPA, CIA, or CISA designationAn ability to contribute to the effective planning of assignmentsA proven ability to deliver quality service and to meet client expectations;Strong oral and written communication skills.
