About usThe London Metallomics Facility (LMF) is looking for a Senior Mass Spectrometry Analyst to join our team at King’s College London. The LMF is a core research facility within the Research Management and Innovation Directorate (RMID) providing state-of-the-art analytical tools to understand the critical role of metals in biological processes.Our vision is to be a centralised hub for comprehensive multi-institutional integration of metallomic analytics, establishing direct interactions between leading research groups, commercial partners, and industry, whilst driving educational outreach and public engagement strategies.The LMF is committed to providing the knowledge and analytical tools required for elemental quantification, imaging, and adjunct techniques in biological and environmental systems. To provide such services, a range of complementary techniques are required with the corresponding expertise to provide our users with guidance on the most appropriate sample preparation protocols, the best quality data, and support with analytical interpretation.About the roleThis role leads analytical services at the LMF, providing expert scientific and technical support from initial consultation to method development and data analysis. The successful candidate will be proactive, solution-oriented, and highly organised, ensuring a high-quality service and strong user support.Candidates should hold a PhD in a relevant field, with expertise in metallomics and experience in ICP-MS and related techniques (LA-ICP-MS and SC-ICP-MS). They will refine analytical services, develop new approaches, and provide expert guidance. Extensive lab experience is required, including instrument operation, troubleshooting, and ensuring Health & Safety compliance.Working closely with the Facility Manager, academics, and researchers, the role involves producing publishable data, contributing to scientific papers, and potentially engaging in grant writing. The candidate will also be an active member of King’s Technical Network, supporting best practices and fostering an inclusive culture in line with King’s EDI strategy.This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.44,355 – £51,735 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
