We are now looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join our Climate Diplomacy & Geopolitics
(CDG) division on a permanent, full-time basis.

The Role

As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will lead and shape our work to advance efforts related to
geopolitics and climate foreign policy.

With particular focus on the role of China and great power dynamics, you’ll lead a small
multi-location team, co-ordinating, producing and advancing diplomatic and geopolitical
knowledge. You will also support other thematic teams to develop diplomatic engagement
opportunities and drive climate outcomes in international forums.

You will build and maintain critical relationships, driving political analysis, research,
advocacy and communications initiatives to facilitate ambitious, effective climate policy
outcomes. You will also have particular focus on facilitating Paris-aligned climate policy
among the major powers.

Additionally, you will:

  • Provide strategic insight and thought leadership on our diplomacy and geopolitics work
  • Provide advice to international diplomatic actors, think tanks and civil society
  • Lead policy discussions and build coalitions with key stakeholders

About You

To be considered as a Senior Policy Advisor, you will need:

  • Relevant professional experience in policy or research roles within government, international
    institutions, civil society, think tanks, private sector or research institutes
  • To have established networks in geopolitical and economies spaces at the relevant expert,
    diplomatic, civil society, and/or governmental levels
  • Excellent strategic understanding of geopolitical and great power dynamics, China’s economic
    and foreign policy priorities and Chinese domestic politics
  • Excellent written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and English language skills
  • Great leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of an
    international team
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and presentation skills
  • A postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., economics, politics, international
    relations, environmental science or China studies)
