ROLE PURPOSE:

Save the Children has implemented Achieve for Youth Employability Project in Pattani city that aimed at improving meaningful engagement among citizens of different background in Thailand’s Deep South since 2018. The success of the project in providing local youth in a vocational training, improving youth’s life skills and employment opportunities is now replicating in Mae Sot, Tak Province, home to a large population of Myanmar refugees and migrants. The Achieve for Youth Employability aims to empower youth in this area to overcome barriers to attaining decent employment in Thailand.

The Senior Project Officer will assist Philanthropy and Corporate Project Coordinator in implementing the Achieve for Youth Employability project activities, Recruitment of young migrant, Vocational & Life Skill for success curriculum development and implementation in collaboration with local partner, vocational institution, and private sectors. He/she will ensure Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning plan as well as preparing youth for internship program with Marriott. The post holder will work to ensure that vulnerable migrant youth are capacitated and able to act on existing opportunities, capitalizing on existing networks and pathways to gain and retain decent jobs, while remaining gender-sensitive and cognizant of other vulnerabilities within the target community.

Role Dimensions: Save the Children works in nine refugee camps, migrant communities in Mae Sot and Bangkok, and southern Thailand. This position will work closely with youth, corporate representative, New Business Development (NBD) and ACCM team to ensure reporting and visibility, as well as work across functions with finance, awards, supply chain, HR, and admin departments.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project management:

  • Support the Philanthropy and Corporate Project Coordinator to manage the project’s grant, ensuring donors’ compliance through proper tracking of reporting on activities, training and monitoring of project delivery and quality.
  • Provide support in prepare deliverables required by Marriott, including the project work plan, monitoring and evaluation plan, quarterly and annual progress reports, and other required reports or products.
  • Implement project activities to ensure that they are taking place on time and within budget. Also ensure that project partners are closely coordinated so that the team has a shared vision and understanding of goals and progress in meeting them.
  • Serve as a focal point for Youth Employability Project at field level and regularly liaise with partner, local government in order to share updates, collaborate on deliverables, and consult on approaches.
  • Assist to Youth Employability budget holder in managing the project budget, including those of the budgets of local partners, to ensure that resources are utilized efficiently.

Planning, Reporting, Monitoring and Learning:

  • Ensure that all project data is properly and regularly collected according to Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Plan (MEL Plan)
  • Collect and compile project data based on the standard formats and submit regular reports capturing learning and project indicator data
  • Planning project activity in consultation with technical and project team according to projects’ workplan
  • Contribute to the preparation and dissemination of internal and external reports and presentation
  • Ensuring team reviews of results and program progress and/or project evaluation including monitoring of partners project progress

Collaboration and Representation:

  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure synergies and consistency in our programming approaches.
  • Represent Save the Children in a professional manner.
  • Liaise with other stakeholders, including vocational institutions, local leaders, and partners, and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Represent programming with local government, NGOs, communities and within SCT as appropriate.
  • Provide timely and effective responses to program challenges reported by staff to Philanthropy and Corporate Project Coordinator
  • Work closely with NBD and the Senior Management team to develop an effective plan for engagement and donor stewardship activity.
  • Contribute to a project business model that would be self-sustaining in the long term, including working with the NBD team to develop new proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Thai Nationality
  • Bachelor degree preferably with Non-formal Education, Business management, Social Science, Education, Economic or Higher Vocational Degree equivalent with 3 years experiences.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • 3 – 5 years of experience in Education; Vocational training, Life Skill training to migrant youth and community work
  • Good understanding of migrant youth with special focus on skills and capacities for employment
  • Proof record of deliver high quality of training in one of this topic; Customer services, vocational, Life skill, digital literary and career guidance session.
  • Good command of written and spoken English
  • Good communications, presentation and facilitation skills
  • An outstanding service-oriented attitude and a can-do mindset.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within the NGO sector and/ or in an international environment
  • Sound knowledge of office practices, procedures and administrative systems including filing systems. Competent in use of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Desirable

  • Karen & Burmese language
  • Report writing skills
  • Experience in business start-up, internship, and fundraising activity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work insecure environments and travel to remote areas
  • Experienced in working with local partner or CSOs.
  • Self- motivated with ability to work autonomously.
  • Commitment to the mission, vision and values of Save the Children.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically as assigned including in the Deep South
